I contacted GC last week after logging into County's permit status page to look at the inspections on the project. I let GC know the sheer wall inspection was approved yet. I was told it was done in October. Sure, yes it was done back in October, but FAILED because the sheathing wasn't finished because we were waiting for the framers to finish trusses!
Apparently they (GC) had marked it off their list. Meanwhile they had the house wrapped in Tyvec. On 2/5 I sent them this screenshot showing that the sheer was not approved. On 2/9 the coordinator for the projected said "I was told we passed that inspection but I have re requested it.". Fast forward to today 2/10, the project manager came out to expose some of the nailing patterns and the earthquake straps hoping we would pass the inspection . . .NOPE the county inspector shows up and says "It all has to come off", "I need to see all the nails".
Now I wonder . . What would have happened if I didn't lookup the inspection status and sent the screenshot on the 5th. The siding crew is supposed to be here next week for siding!? I guess it could have been worse if it hadn't been caught and called in this week. We would be removing siding?? Come on guys.
