We knew we wanted to have a webpage to document our home build process. It's been a long journey and one we want to be able to look back on. After the project started going downhill we realized documenting it was must.

Hard to stay dry without a roof

Woodstove vent install
Yesterday was the woodstove vent install. Originally scheduled for 9/30, but whatever . . it's done now. Excited for wood heat! So over these cold concrete floors and electric heat. Project manager met the framer on-site early this morning to go over fixes and to frame in kids closets. Framer claims those were not on his copy of the plans? Roofer was scheduled to install the metal roof starting today, but no one yet.
Mike took yesterday off to spray out all of the mud caked on the floors throughout the house. It looks so much better now!

Roof sheeting complete!

Windows in, Framing 90%, plumber starting
Today it actually feels like a jobsite. Lots happening. Project manager made and extra visit (wasn't due until next Friday), construction manager texted me for the 2nd time this week asking for pictures and keeping in touch. I asked the project manager what he did to put the flame to their feet. He said "I freaked out on them a bit". He is new to this company and position, but I am thankful for him being an advocate for us and getting things on track!
Its super frosty and icey here today, so the framers are waiting for the sun to melt the frost on the roof so they can finish sheeting.

5 man crew - 3 days running
This week has been the most steady progress we have seen yet, with 4 vehicles and 5 guys working on the framing Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They have 'committed' to GC that they will be completed by the end of the week. I learned this after the construction manager left me a voicemail Monday indicating they are aware of our frustrations and we are 'on their radar'.
Still no sheeting on the middle trusses, they still need to do some framing to connect the middle area to the 12/12 trusses. It's doable, but I've said that before. The plumber WAS scheduled for today, but he can't start until these clowns are gone. It was super sunny today, so the kids and I took a walk after lunch for some eggs and spaghetti squash next door and got a quick photo in on the way back.
Cedar deck complete, tiled porch . . still in progress
The back deck outside the 12' slider is only 4' deep to accomodate county code. We hope to add to it later when budget allows and/o...
